Bought a house and plans for cycle lane weren't disclosed

I bought a property in June of last year. In September I received a letter addressed to the property that these were the updated proposals for the street I lived on, inside were plans showing the removal of on street parking down the length of the street and addition of a cycle lane. Apparently part of a streets for people campaign this incentive had been going through consultation since 2015. I contacted my solicitor saying if I knew this before the sale I wouldn't have bought the property, and asked why they hadn't found this out. They replied in their remit to search the internet for this information they just carry out a local search. The estate agent who lives and works in the area we bought said he wasn't aware of the proposal's. Yet all the neighbors say they have had continuous letters, and consultation with the council so the previous owner would have received the same.
So since this wasn't disclosed on the legal forms can you tell me where I stand please

It is up to the buyer to discover these things for themselves in the main.

I bought a house once and my solicitor said "there's a new cycle lane going right past your door, it's part of the National Cycle Network" - and I said "not bovverd".  In the 7 years I lived there I never saw one single bike using it.

What are your main issues regarding your discovery?

That it wasn't disclosed in the sellers pack, and that it may have an adverse effect on house prices. Plus the disruption it's going to cause install it this and the double yellow lines in front of my house

You should speak to your solicitor about how you sue the vendor. The loss of on-street parking is a serious issue and the seller would have been aware of the impact on the property value.
You might also complain to the local council about why the ongoing consultation didn't show up in the local search.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Searches cover a specific list of statutory matters - unless the search was meant to show current consultations about cycle paths then there won't be grounds for complaint.

Painting some lines on the road is hardly going to cause "disruption" is it?
The loss of on-street parking may be an issue but you'd have to demonstrate what your loss actually is (i.e. what's the difference in value for nearby houses without parking outside).

OP in your first post you mention proposals (to me the word says its nots fonal), is the cycle lane actually going ahead or is it just a discussion eg get residents view on it etc.
If the latter then mention it to your local councillor or contact the council, do the other residents want it ? Might get a response if you all get together and voice your opinion.

Preferably not in the cycle lane.
But hang on, you say these are proposals, not finalised plans.  A consultation is also not a firm commitment to create anything. The other place I wouldn't stand is in a court trying to prove deception or negligence.

Given that nobody has a right to on-street parking i fail to see how the loss of it makes any difference whatsoever

You're blaming your solicitor, yet you didn't do any basic research either.

You're complaining about the loss of on-street parking - do you have off-street? Local authorities can introduce parking restrictions at any time, so there's no guarantee ever of it remaining available.
