I’ve just had gas piped to my property, how do I find prices and suppliers without comparison sites as they all want you to already have a supplier. Up till now I have only had electricity.

Just pretend you're with one, e.g. British Gas.

The comparison sites don't know who you're with and they never will, since they're just frond end interfaces to behind the scenes stuff. They'll only tell you what you tell them.If you've never had gas before in any property you've ever lived in you'll have no idea what you use. Use the national average, 16,500kWh and you'll know this time next year how far out that is, if at all.0

Gas installed but no meter? When we had our gas supply installed, Cadent put in the pipework up to the point of a capped pipe inside a meter box, it was up to us to choose a gas supplier who would supply and fit the meter.Simplest option was to choose EDF who supplied our electricity at that time, then with the job completed with the CH system installed, we changed suppliers -One for Elec & a different one for GasPS The firm who put in the supply pipework will have, or should have, issued you with an MPRN No. ( Meter Point Registration Number ) Make a note and keep it safe, as without it no company will supply you with Gas0

When we arranged a gas supply, we took the option of going to a well known licenced gas supplier who arranged everything for us. It also had the advantage not only of one company arranging everything for our supply, including the installation of the meter and indeed installation of the gas appliance which we needed the gas connection for, but also we then had a gas supplier in which to choose at our leisure whether to ditch & switch from.
