Dispute over Virgin Media Final Bill

I rang Virgin in late January this year to request an early termination fee for my contract which had until May to run as I wanted to join Sky.

I was quoted an amount, but I had to point out to the person on the phone that that didn't include the bill for February which was due at the time I rang, so when we added that on to the amount that I was quoted, we arrived at the full amount for the termination which I asked them to double check.

Once they did, I paid it.  They advised me that the services would continue for a final 30 days and that would be it and I would receive the kit to send the stuff back which has gone back today.

The problem I have is that they're now demanding another payment as my real "final" bill and I'm refusing to pay it.   I made the point that if I ask for a full and final settlement figure and I'm given one, that if I pay that, that's it - my account is settled.  I said that they can't subsequently change their minds and tell me i owe them more money.

I've asked for the call to be listened to on the day I paid the bill to prove that no such further fee was advised but i'm still waiting for that one.

Do I have any recourse to argue it ?.   I don't want to "just pay it and be done with it" if I don't have to either.

I would certainly appreciate any thoughts on the matter, thanks.
