Household Insurance while away

Hope this is the right place for a quick question. We are going to Australia for a month. Should we advise our home contents' insurer? We live on 2nd floor in a small new-build apartment block, with video security entrance. It is very secure, fully occupied, and only our own front door to worry about. The building insurance is covered by the Managing Agents, and each occupant arranges their own contents insurance. Husband thinks we should notify insurer, I'm not sure (excuse the pun!). Thanks.

Can you take a look at your policy and see what the maximum unoccupied period is?It may be a good idea to switch off the water at the stop thingy (probably be censored) if it's not winter. We use the hive app which means we can see if there's been a power cut. It might be worth leaving a key with a trusted friend if you have modern electrics where the RCD trips so you can ask someone to go round.1

Thanks lisyloo. We always turn the stopcock off if we're away overnight. I'll have a look at the policy and see what it says.0
