My wife has recently lost her job and I have had to tighten our money expenditure. As such I contacted sky effectively to cancel but also to see if they could help in some way with discounting our bill.
We had the basic 8mb broadband telephone and entertainment pack with box sets and Netflix for £52 a month which was more expensive than new customer prices.
I waited over 20mins to get through on phone, the advisor apologised and explained they have been busy with people taking up a newoffer they have I explained my circumstances and he reviewed my account and said I was already receiving a discount for the netflix and box sets and there was nothing further he could do.
He advised I had 31 days notice to give for the TV package which he cancelled and I would need to return the equipment. I can't cancel the telephone and broadband but can switch company I explained I had been on comparison sites and told them the post office have fibre broadband and phone with free calls for £20.99 he just told me to join them.
I had been a customer for 14yrs continuosly and had previously been with sky for 5yrs before that, seems loyalty counts for nothing.
After doing more comparison searches found nowtv who are owned by sky doing an offer for fibre broadband free calls and entertainment pack for £27.99 this is £10 cheaper than sky's new customer deal. Granted I will loose the use of sky q for recording however everything is available on demand these days. Feel aggrieved but it's clear the timing of my wife being out of work has fallen when they have had a massive increase in new subscribers and they aren't bothered about loosing my business.
Got a letter from sky in between advising of price increases which would take my monthly payment from £52 to £56 a month making the yearly total to £672 going with nowtv £27.99 +7.99 for Netflix will cost me £431.76 a £240 saving.
