Text from Gladstones - old PCN, pre-court threat

Hi all
I've today received a text from Gladstones saying I owe them £145.00, and that I haven't responded to their letter before action! First I've heard about it... everything has gone to an old address.
On ringing them, apparently this relates to a Charge given to the car I am the registered keeper of, from 2017, at my previously local pub, where I was a regular patron and am friendly with the Landlord etc. This is a pay and display car park, and the "Charge" is for not displaying a valid ticket. Tickets are refunded by the pub for patrons.

Apparently the PPC who issued this was done away with ages ago and they have used another for some time now, so I don't think the "complaint to landowner" is going to get me anywhere.

What's the advice in this case... shall I just skip the landowner involvement stage and crack on with the rest of the process on the Newbie thread?

    Yes

Email a SAR to the parking company to their DPO to obtain all your data attaching a copy of the V5C as proof of I D under the GDPR law , or 2 redacted recent utility bills instead

Tell Gladstone's Solicitors to place the matter on hold pending the outcome of the SAR , in writing by letter or email

Get a witness statement from the landowner and ask them to complain and have the PCN cancelled

I've today received a text from Gladstones saying I owe them £145.00,

You owe them nothing unless a judge says to do.  Have you read the stickies?  Get a letter from the pub landlord saying that the charge should have been cancelled.

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP, it can cause the scammer extra costs and work, and has been known to get the charge cancelled.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.

The most important thing apart from the SAR from the PPC, is to put the new address in writing to Gs and the PPC (both) telling them to ERASE the old address.  That way, you will not get a CCJ and when the claim form arrives, you can use our new defence template.

Also email the PPC using the same address as the SAR to tell them as well, to erase the old address and confirm your actual address for service.
