blocking autoplay videos

Hi,
I'm a Firefox user across Linux and Android but despite trying the "block autoplay" preference in Settings and modifying some of those in about:config I am still getting bombarded with those pesky picture in picture videos across various news sites.
Thankfully they do now only play muted but there a sure fire way of blocking these completely, or at least not automatically playing them?
I'd prefer not to have switch browser or install another add-on (already U-block origin) but if needs must it is a possibility.
Thanks

If you see them use the uBlock Origin settings to block form that site so you won't see them again on that site. Maybe consider changing the lists uBlock Origin uses for blocking. Different ones may well block the offending items.

Yep agree with uBlock Origin, but also get NoScript. The 2 together block just about everything.
Never seen a youtube advert, no popups, nothing runs unless you allow it.
This forum on my computer probably looks nothing like they designed it.

Thanks for the help. Will try those.

It certainly doesn't look like anything that they designed on my browser. For example 3/4 of my screen is used by the forum software with my uBlock Origin rules enabled, however only 1/3 to 1/2 is used to display forum content if the forum software had it's wicked way.forgotmyname said:This forum on my computer probably looks nothing like they designed it.

Missed one not related to adverts but useful. Zoompage WE. The forum fills just over half the
screen width now instead of a narrow band.
Still a ton of wasted space though.

For me the MSE forum fills 90%+ of the screen width, and doesn't have the advertising right side bar nor the wasted header and footer areas.

Just search mine and/or popp's prior posts and you'll find the filters to add to uBlock to do this.
Or for simplicity ...forums.moneysavingexpert.com##.mse-masthead forums.moneysavingexpert.com##.SecondaryPanel forums.moneysavingexpert.com##.MainContent.Content:style(width: 99% !important) forums.moneysavingexpert.com##.Container:style(max-width: 100% !important) forums.moneysavingexpert.com##.MainFooter.Footer

Its the screen width thats the issue on mine. 2560 x 1440. Zoom in and its like half a dozen lines of
huge text or a narrow band.
The zoompage plugin allows me to only zoom this site and it auto zooms only this site.
Ahhh the 99%, silly me... Yep Thanks no longer need zoompage.. But thats still messier than my previous
setup. Few bits to remove to make me happy
Thanks

Horses for courses ... my screen is 1920 x 1080 (and with the browser maximised) so I prefer what I've implemented.

These are my current uBlock Origin rules that make the MSE forums much better than default:forums.moneysavingexpert.com##.mse-masthead

forums.moneysavingexpert.com##.MainFooter.Footer
forums.moneysavingexpert.com##.MainContent.Content:style(width: 99% !important)I've no idea how they thought the default layout was in any way acceptable. Whoever the sadist was, they are clearly in desperate need of an optician's appointment and perhaps even a sanity test.

And they don't like people disliking the forum layout either. They deleted my signature where I said it's terrible.
Hence the Censorship
