O/S Daily Tuesday 10 March 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I've had a bath, am dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Now getting light, feels warmer but forecast is for blustery wind again from today.
Dinner last night was scampi, chips/jacket potato and beans for the menfolk, I had baked fish and veg. I remembered to get the liver and sausages out to defrost so tonight's dinner will be liver, bacon, sausage, m\ash, peas and gravy.
Yesterday work was a bit of a nightmare to start with as we had no technology - everything we do needs this, so a rough start to the week. I'm working from the other office today so that will make a nice change.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc, how's the back?
I'm up early to go for a swim, can't remember the last time I went first thing in the morning but must get back into the habit. Typically it's pouring down so will get wet more than once today!
Your little DGD sounds a joy dp1, hope you get some answers soon.
Hope you didn't over-indulge Gers!
Haircut after work which will be nice, may call into the W'rose that's on the way home, it'll be closing in a couple of months and I like to browse.
Have a happy Tuesday, take care. XX15 -
Good morning, it's a damp grey morning here, but doesn't feel as cold.I was out most of yesterday, and today will be the usual busy Tuesday. I'l go to TaiChi, Dgs will be here till about 5.30, then we'll go out later to the quiz. Our usual quiz is not on, because the room we use has been booked for a function, so we are going to try a pub quiz that's a short bus ride away. It'll be a change.I'm going to put a lamb casserole in the slow cooker - we always have something like that on a Tuesday, it makes life a bit easier, and I'm all for that.Belated birthday wishes to those who've had a birthday over the last couple of days.Nelski, hope you are getting on all right, and you Redruby. Hope your little Dgd is ok DP1. She's had so much to contend with in her little life.Take care folks, hope you all have a good day.16

Morning all
Dolly walked and fed cold and windy here but no rain . I didn't get on yesterday as i went to get DS from the airport a round trip of 1 hour took me three and a half due to an accident then mum needed to go to the optician after that DD2 had to go underwear shopping for her wedding dress fitting on friday. So busy busy . The news is not good for DD2 as all travel has now been banned to Italy so i expect today we will be trying to sort an alternative as no wedding no house (army regulations) and her new job is based there .
Right on to normal things
Ruby as usual you are in my thoughts
Nels Hope the dance routines are coming on well
DP1 sounds like your DGD is doing well with her crawling
Hugs to all who need one and extra strength to those who need some
Have a great day whatever you are up to xx

Good morning folks.
DM had a lovely day, lots of messages, presents, flowers and visitors. Meanwhile I got increasingly frazzled with it all plus the horrendous noise from the builders. The evening visitor stayed until almost 10pm, long past my bedtime, however it was lovely. One glass of fizz each and plenty of cake helped me relax again. 😀
At 1.30am I was woken up by DM shouting for help 😱 when I reached her it turned out that she was asleep and having a dream about being attacked. Phew! Of course, I lay awake for hours after that shock.Builders will be here at 8am so must get my skates on. I hope that everyone is doing well or getting better.Happy Tuesday to all.15 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. The least said about the weather this morning the better. It's grim. I couldn't get to sleep for listening to the wind last night, as well as worrying about things I can't change as usual.
Tuesday coffee and lunch meet up as usual. Our last day at our usual venue, the coffee shop ladies have now got an official closing date for this w/e. It's so sad, both for them and us. Next week we shall have to arrange a new meeting place.
I'll just have an hour back at home then DD is picking me up on the way to the school pick up as we are going prom dress shopping with eldest DGD. They have appointments at two specialist prom dress shops for looking and trying on. DGD sent me screen shots of some of the dresses she likes. OMG the prices!!!! Yet another money making idea from our friends across the pond. DGD is quite a big girl so can't just get away with any style so it's fingers crossed she sees something she likes and feels comfortable in.
The meter changing man arrived in the allotted time slot yesterday and was quicker than I expected. I then got all the clutter back under the stairs! The electric had beenoff for a while and when it came back on I didn't have any broadband!! I rang Virgin and was eventually put through to someone to help! I hadn't a clue what he was on about but didn't want him thinking what a stupid old woman he was talking to! (Ok I may be but I didn't want some technical whizz kid thinking so!!) I went through all the steps he had explained to me and still no broadband! I had to ring them back and this time got a more obliging young chap who was able to solve the problem remotely, Why couldn't the first whizz kid have done that!
Righto folks, must get moving. I can hear Sparkle throwing litter all around the kitchen. She is such a messy toileter. I hope all the birthday parents had a good day yesterday. ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, convalescents, sad or lonely and take care all xx
BELLA I have been thinking about your DD and her wedding plans as every bulletin from Italy has been worse than the one before. I hope your DD can sort something else out when so much else is at stake. What a worry it is for you all. xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"15 -
Morning
Great sleep last night I'm back to alternate good then bad very odd. Not a great start to the day though my useless hands managed to knock over a coffee into a adapter with all my chargers in and blew the electric. Had to fight through the garage clutter to get it back on ....hard enough when I am able to walk properly!
Sorted my concern over my BP yesterday the stroke nurse came round and took a reading which was sky high then rang my GP.... 15 mins later I got an appointment ....wish I had that power. Anyway the GP was surprised with all the high readings that I wasn't given something and wrote me me up somat whilst muttering about the hospital Took one straight away and 2 hours later my BP was a fairly normal reading. Sorted
Terrorist cried off sick yesterday so didn't get a sign off guess he will come today at some point. Hoping for a less chaotic day but we shall see. Food last night was weird but lovely coquilles st jacques and a big caesar salad tonight is a HM pasty and beans ...slightly more normal.
have a good day all...rubes is it your appointment today with the other consultant? Hope it goes well if it is.14 -
Morning everyone
Up early off time the hospital for blood tests. Try to get there early as it soon gets queued.Redruby thinking of you.
Bella - hope your dd finds somewhere. A friend from work got married at Marylebone town hall which has several rooms and is lovely.Off out for lunch today with my friend, looking forward to it. Hugs to anyone that needs/wants one. Take care.16 -
Good morning everyone
,
Today is Phoebe's 20th birthday and I am waiting for her to wake up to open her cards and presents. Her main present was to have her computer upgraded so she can get a VR headset and play games. I have also got her a little fun thing to open and she will have gifts from her siblings too.
I have been quite unwell with yet another health problem but now have some anti-b's so hopefully will start feeling better soon. I of course googled my symptoms and panicked but lovely Steve talked me down. My own doctor wants me to ring again on Thursday if there is no improvement and then I will have to have further investigations, so hopefully these tablets will do their job and everything will be ok.
We are having lasagne, chips and garlic bread for dinner at Phoebe's request followed by chocolate cake so today's diet plan is on hold. Never mind, there are plenty more days in the year to be good.
Back to my knitting today. I am finishing off a pink bunny before I start on a sparkly green baby dragon. I will have to find a good film to listen to while I knit. I like a Disney musical myself and have seen the new Aladdin film about 6 times now.
Well I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Good morning
The site fell out with me yesterday. Logged me out, wouldn't accept my password, and then became unavailable. Don't know what I'd done to make it sulk! Anyway, it seems ok again today.
Life is very quiet here at the moment, but that's the way we like it. We're collecting DGC from school. We usually go out for tea, and as it's DGS choice today, it will undoubtedly be McDs. His favourite, and it's cheap, cheerful and quick so we don't mind.
Gers - So good that DM had a good birthday but your life is so hectic. Please try to take a deep breath today, and have a little sit down!
nmlc - how's the back? Getting better I hope.
Bella Bella - I hope yr DD finds a good substitute. Perhaps a low key ceremony now and a great party once the dust settles - which it surely must do sometime!
It's a bit grey here but not raining. Not raining is becoming a mantra this year!
Happy dry Tuesday everyone

Morning all
Horrid here this morning raining and blowing a gale, it feels like winter is back !!
Bella I have been thinking of your dd as the news from Italy comes through, could she just have a registry office do for now and then book something else later on ? sending her good luck vibes for finding an alternative xx
Dinner tonight will be something involved with chicken not sure what yet but inspiration will hit me at some point, I have to tidy through and empty the dw this morning.
I do see the other consultant this afternoon he is the surgeon who will do the implant side of the op so will be good to see him and ask some questions, I am seeing the Macmillan nurse afterwards to go through do's and dont's for after the op and self care etc.
Nels you be careful clambering over things in the garage !!!!! glad the pills helped xx
Topsy good luck with the blood tests xx
Have good days all xx13
