Not heard back from offer

I put an offer in on a house on Friday. Instantly rejected so I upped my offer. Didn’t hear back till Saturday saying we need more time to think/ see if anyone else who viewed it over the weekend puts an offer in. They said they would call Monday. House has been in the market for five months with no previous offers. Should I ring to ask what’s going on or hold tight?

Yeah call the Estate Agents - no harm in that.

I'd leave it another day or two. They said they'd wait until Monday. It's only Monday now. The EAs always say they'll ring and don't. If you leave it until Wed, they may be more likely to accept an offer. Obviously you risk someone beating you to it! I'd not want to appear too keen though. Maybe ring tomorrow as a compromise? Give them a night to sleep on the fact they've (presumably) had no offers today?

It could be that the sellers want a bit more time to think about it, and do their sums etc.

Or, a tactic that an EA mentioned to me....  the EA might be letting you 'sweat' for a few days before telling you your offer's been rejected. That particular EA believed that buyers are more likely to come back with a higher offer, if they've had a few days to 'work themselves up into a state' about a property.

    So who knows?

It's a major decision.Give the sellers time to decide. Hassling them (or the agents) won't make them decide faster, nor more likely to accept.

Now they've received your firm offers. May wish to see if other parties that have expressed an interest in the property. Are wishing to join the fray.
