Certified Copy of Marriage Certificate

I'm in the process of selling my house and have been asked for the following;
Please can you obtain an certified copy of your marriage certificate from the registry that you were married at to prove your wife’s change of name.
What am I actually being asked for, and how can I get it? Google gives me too many answers!

You're being asked by your solicitors? Assuming you have an "original" marriage certificate, they're asking you to get somebody (e.g. a local solicitor) to certify a photocopy of that as being a true copy and then you send them the copy. If you want to know who they accept as people who can certify it, you'll need to ask.
Or you just send them an "original" (i.e. official extract) of the marriage certificate (either one you already have or you can get another from the registrar) and you send that instead.1 -
Go to the registry office you were married at.
Ask them to provide a certified copy of your marriage certificate. (Will be stamped and written on by a suitably qualified person).0 -
