Ford Fiesta MK 7 (2008) Issue
Options
Good evening.
A few weeks ago two of the injectors on my car failed and have been replaced. Since then the car has been 'fine' (considering the age and mileage) but something weird happened this afternoon after I finished work.
Started the motor and the engine was chugging and it felt as if there was no power. I had to rev my engine a few times before I could pull off. Seemed a bit sluggish at first but once I was in motion it behaved fine and had no problems driving a 16 mile journey home. Battery was replaced last May so unless that's faulty I've ruled that out (for now).
Just wondered what it could well be, and if it'd be expensive, before I'm able to get it into a local garage. Thanks for any help/advice.
Edit: should hasten to add it's a 1.4 TDCi non DPF.

It could be due to many things.
It's not uncommon for modern common rail diesels to "stumble" at start up like this due to low rail pressure, say when an injector or two are spilling off too much fuel or there's a leak.
Another thing could be a duff glow plug or two.
Both tend to cause the stumbling start up and it's not until you're managed to raise the revs/warm the engine up enough do they start to run a bit smoother.
Glow plugs are a serviceable item, so I would be tempted to start there if they are known to be original or just old.
Unless you're up to speed getting them out, I would leave it to someone experienced, they can often get stuck and snap off.1 -
Thanks for getting back to me. To the best of my knowledge the glow plugs are the original ones but I'm good at breaking things, rather than fixing them, so I'll get onto a local garage tomorrow and see if they can fit me in Wednesday. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history.
