Is it Worth Claiming on pet insurance
f2020
I have John Lewis lifetime plus insurance for my cat. My cat was being sick and then I thought I found a lump (possible blockage) so I took her to the emergency vet. It turned out to be nothing (sickness probably trying to be sick a hairball) lump turned out to be nothing. It cost £240 because it was out of hours. I will need to pay excess of £140 if I claim. Is it worth me claiming for £100 as it might make my premium go up more than normal in the future? The emergency vet said I had to pay at the time and gave me Forms to claim it back and I don’t know whether to do them. Thanks

Even if you don't claim you will have to declare it to the insurance and if the same happens again it may be classed as a pre existing condition. If you don't declare it now and something happens in the future where a claim requires the insurance to have a full medical history it will show up and they will use any excuse to not pay out.0

I'm a bit late to this one, but we have exclusions on our cat policies with Petplan for things that we didn't claim for - and they're pretty broad exclusions considering what the vet treated too. I will always claim, in the future, though I plan to move to self insuring as soon as possible.0
