Paying in a foreign cheque

Can anyone help me, I have a cheque in Canadian dollars to pay into my UK bank...I line in UK. I'm trying to find out the most favourable way of maximizing the rate I receive, any suggestions very appreciated

If you want to pay in to a bank account - you have to have an account with them. If you open a new account just to pay this cheque in, you will not have any track record with them so it will in all probability be sent for collection - so will take 6 weeks or more before you get the money.0
