Hi, I'm really interested in scrapping an old car I've just been given for a new Hyundai Tucson. Only issue is, I'm not going to have owned it for the required minimum of 90 days prior to the Hyundai scrappage scheme advertised end date of 31st March. Does anyone happen to know if the scrappage schemes are going to run again or are all car manufacturers ending their scrappage schemes around March 2020? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks.

It's a marketing gimmick. Negotiate a discount with the dealer.2

The current scrappage scheme is purely manufacturer-run. There's no public money - and hasn't been since 2010.
So when they start and end, what they regard as qualifying... all entirely in the manufacturer's hands.1 -
When I was talking to Hyundai dealers they all said that the scrappage scheme was worse than the discount they could give me separately, for a number of reasons. You can't negotiate a discount with a dealer and then have them load the scrappage on afterwards. Absolutely none of them will do that. It is smoke and mirrors to get you through the door and thinking about discounts.0
