American Express advice

hi, I am thinking about getting an American Express card for cash back. Just wondering, I can’t see if salford council accept American Express, but can see that you can pay via post office who do accept American Express. Would this work, has anyone tried? Advice would be great thanks :)

The answer to your question - https://secure.salford.gov.uk/sales/SelectSaleForm.aspx, no salford council don't accept AmEx. If you can pay via the post office and they accept AmEx it should work. If you need a link for bonus Cashback / rewards.

that link doesn't work  Guess what i am asking is that the council gives option to pay via post office and whether you can pay that with amex.

    What is the cashback?

The post office site says cash and debit card only for bill payments (assuming you’re paying council tax). But it may vary from branch to branch.

    https://www.postoffice.co.uk/bill-payments

Don’t forget that some places that won’t accept Amex may accept PayPal, which you can fund using the Amex card. I recently paid my car insurance this way (Quotemehappy)

PS my local council claims to still accept Switch and Delta cards :o

Not sure, but if you paid at the PO with Amex, would it be charged as 'cash advance' and subject to a fee?

I know it isn't exactly the same thing, but I paid my vehicle tax (£325 this year) with Amex at the Post Office and didn't have any issues either paying or with fees afterwards, and earned 1% cashback as expected.
