New pair of top mount suspension bearing £300????
Hi all,
My car was making a crunchy, clickin noise when turned the wheel to full lock, so took it to Halfords for a free check. Turns out i need a new pair of top mount bearing or top mount strut is the correct name. Halfords want to charge me £300 for the pair. The part itself is like £40 for the pair, meaning it woukd be £240 for labour!! Its more expensive than my cambelt and waterpump. Dnt think thats right....is it right? An independent garage quoted me £150 for the job. Thats a big difference. Shall i just call around more places??

So if you've already been quoted a perfectly acceptable price, why call around more?
Top tip: Never got to Halfords.
OK, that's probably harsh. You might need a cheap and nasty bicycle on a Sunday, but apart from that...2 -
Because that garage was an independent garage and never been there before, so dont want to be quoted too low either to get a botched job done...so if i get another quote for round the same price I can be sure that Halfords want to rip me off and that the £150 is a price that I will get a good job done for it.....its just i had so many problems with this car , i have severe trust issues now😀😀0
