Will you start a new thread complaining about being overcharged for brake pads by this garage?
  • I am finding this very odd telling me they are way over priced. 3 quotes were obtained all ranging from £355, £419 and £440. I went with the middle one because the car was already there. I did not bother going to Nissan as I usually assume they are the very expensive ones.

For the complete job, yes. Discs, pads, labour.

You gave the parts price for the pads alone as £71 front, £59 rear, £120 for the full set. I'm pointing you to a very reputable supplier where you can get cheap pads for £25 all-round, £50 OEM quality.

You want the supplier to cover the cost of the pads, why shouldn't they simply order you a set of cheapies? £25-worth, and they've done what you asked...

The garage did all they were required. In hindsight, they should have changed the discs as well, or at least gave you the option of getting them done with you paying for them. This is what separates a good garage from a not so good one. The local garage my family have always used would have mentioned it when doing the pads, that the discs won't last much longer. They would then either just do them FOC or simply charged us for the parts, as changing discs at the same time as pads adds virtually no labour time on top.

Just put it down to experience and probably look elsewhere for a car in the future.
  • Just thought I would update you all. Garage have agreed to pay the cost of the Brake Pads.
I will however think twice about posting on this forum as the large chunk of “advice” I received from certain posters was neither useful or friendly. I can only hope that those posters have not put off other people from getting a fair deal elsewhere.

You do not get replies that always agree with you, what you will get is a lot of good and honest advice, thats what the forum is for, there will be people in the future who post things that you do not agree with.

Yes but it was not good advice. It was people telling me not to bother, or to sarcastically start another thread about being over charged (which I wasn’t).

Good for the garage. It's a cheap bit of customer goodwill.
