Motorpoint warranty - car stolen
I purchased a car from Motorpoint in June 2019 and took out the 2 year extended car warranty to cover the car after the manufacturer's warranty expired (Oct 2020). Unfortunately the car was stolen last week (March 2020). Thankfully I took out GAP insurance at the time of purchase. Whilst I'm confident I will be able to recover the full price paid for the car (between the main and GAP insurer), it appears that I'm not able to recover the cost of the extended warranty (£498). Even though the warranty policy hasn't even kicked in yet, it looks like I don't have the legal right to recover the cost. The main insurer doesn't cover this as it's not part of the cost of the car, the GAP insurer specifically excludes warranty cost in their terms, Motorpoint (who sold the policy) won't refund it because it's after 30 days, the policy underwriter (AutoProtect) reiterate the same point. The only options they've given me is either cancel the policy for nil value or transfer to the new owner (clearly not applicable). To my mind, it's simply an insurance based policy which you ought to get your money back especially as I've not even entered the policy period. I feel like I'm going round in circles. I would've though due to the special circumstance they would be more helpful but they're standing behind there T&Cs. I wondered if anyone had been in the same situation. I'm probably going to buy another car from Motorpoint and looking forward to the when they mention buying an extended warranty.....

As you said...Motorpoint (who sold the policy) won't refund it because it's after 30 days, the policy underwriter (AutoProtect) reiterate the same point.
As far as the gap policy goes...the GAP insurer specifically excludes warranty cost in their terms
Perhaps use a different gap insurer next time, one that covers what you want them to cover?1
