LG TV Blue Patches, 18 months old

Hi, I purchased an LG UHD TV in July 2018, and recently I've been getting blue/ purple patches visible on screen which is quite distracting, especially on a white background. After phoning LG, I was quoted £70 for repairs, would you say this was fair for a product less than two years old? Do I have another option? It was purchased from Argos and still have receipt.

You could commission an independent inspection of the TV. If that suggests that the problem was inherent, you have a case to go back to Argos with for a repair, a replacement or a refund, taking into account the use you've had to date.
How long is the manufacturer warranty and did you register it when you bought the TV?0 -
Hi, yes it was registered online on day of purchase, but only for standard year.0

I'd go for the independent inspection if you don't want to pay the £70.
if it were me, I'd choose the LG £70 option. You might spend £70 on an inspection that proves inconclusive or doesn't give the result you want, whereas the £70 spent with LG would at least give an approved repair.0 -
Read the LG reviews on Trust Pilot about their service.
With regards to your fault, the Panel (Screen) is faulty and you most certainly will not get this replaced for £70.The quoted £70 charge will be to send out a third-party company to inspect your TV. There is every chance they will tell you this is customer damage and isn't covered anyway.

How can this be customer damage when it hasn't moved from the wall where it's hung since day one?0

Their argument would be that it's worked perfectly for a long time so the problem isn't inherent. It may not have moved, but you - or something - might have knocked it.Nomisra said:How can this be customer damage when it hasn't moved from the wall where it's hung since day one?0 -
If the £70 quoted is for a repair I would go for it.
when you next buy a TV got to John Lewis ( 5 year gtee) or richer sounds ( 6 year gtee)0 -
I've stopped buying LG TVs and monitors they do tend to fail faster than others. (I know I have no scientific data to back my claim just personal experience)0
