npower chasing me for money for an address I never lived at
Options
Npower have been chasing me for payments of bills over a period of years for an address I have never lived at. I have twice provided evidence of where I did live but now they have passed the debt to a collection agency! They have never been able to provide any evidence that I did live there or was ever responsible for payment of bills for that flat. No surprising as that is the case. Does anyone have any ideas how I can get this sorted once and for all. Any help gratefully received.

As above, you can find the details of their complaints procedure and address for them, on their websiteWRITE a letter headed Complaint, setting out the details of your previous contacts and reminding them that harassment is actionable in law, and send the letter by Royal MailOn receipt, N'power must acknowledge the complaint and issue you with a Complaint No, and until the matter is settled, call off the dogs0

I’d love to send them a letter by Royal Mail signed for but they only provide a P.O. Box number so not sure there would be anyone to sign for it.

Just ensure you get a proof of postage, and make a copy and e-mail it to the addy complaints@npower.com......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -

Once posted it is deemed in law to have been delivered, you do not require proof of arrival at the addressEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens1

You could perhaps ask for a read receipt for your email copy or consider making the complaint via live chat as you can request a copy be sent to your email address.0

Letters I've sent to P.O. box numbers have been signed for - dunno who by but I always make sure that my snottgrams are sent by recorded delivery and I check that they have been signed for. What they do after that is down to themNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0

A PO Box doesn't mean that your letter is kept at a sorting office awaiting collection - it will be delivered to a real address.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1
