Had a really helpful visit from the community Physio yesterday and she is organising some small adaptations to the stairs and bathroom to make things safer and easier for me. She is pleased I am reasonably well at the moment so is coming back to give me some exercises to strengthen my muscles and balance. Going to play reading group this morning and hopefully to see the film Judy tonight in the village hall. I do get very tired by early evening so planning on a nap this afternoon in order to stay awake this evening.13

Morning folks -just had a leisurely shower as the builders have gone for more materials first thing and then will do some more work downstairs. I think today there will be lots of sawing noises as old wood is cut out. So far things are calm...The cleaner is coming this morning, she was having an infected in-grown toenail dealt with yesterday. I'll need to devise some work for her - cleaning the fridge perhaps - to keep her going. My thoughts are with those who are struggling with ill health or just daily battles. Happy Friday to all.14

Bright sunshine, but we have had a heavy frost overnight and its taking its time easing.
Despite getting up early yesterday, we are back to late up again this morning, decided its not worth bothering about, just go with the flow.
I cooked the stewing beef I bought yesterday for supper last night, put one double and one single serving in the freezer. OH managed to choke on a piece of calabrese, its a regular occurrance , and they say there is nothing wrong with his swallow........Its alright for them but frightens me to death everytime it happens.
OH has his (I hope)final appointment at the dentist today.........fingers crossed. I need to nip into Wilkinson and see if they have candles. I have found the gas light and small gas ring, I need to get them tested to make sure they are ok to use in an emergency.
I plan to make leek and potato soup for lunch, enough for a couple of days at least. Apart from that nothing set on concrete, will just go with the flow.
Tonights supper will be the usual fish and chips.14 -
Morning all,Another lovely sunny day, but very cold.DH is at home pricing a job up, no doubt I'll have to type it all out later and decipher his scrawl, along with some other admin bits. Just been looking at pics of the DGC in their world book day costumesI think I'm going to do some bulk cooking today to help my diet, not that there 's much room in the freezer after my meat pack and sm delivery last night.Tetris it is again! The books I got from the bay are v helpful giving me some new ideas.Poppy great to hear you are doing okWe are out tonight watching godson & band so that's a change of scene for us.Take care all esp RR,Nels ,nmlc, and bella+ Gers mind those gaps in the floorboards!xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Afternoon! Lovely and sunny if a little bit bloody freezing! Have I mentioned that I really really love my fire? So anyway, I really really love my fire. Went Stiching and B8tching last night, made a small llama, it was a christmas present and seeing as I left my knitting in Wales, it was something to do. Now that I've made it, I don't know what to do with it...Finished watching my how to build a shed [15! videos, but I throughly reccomend them, bloke called Ali Dymock, adding a link for anyone else interested in sheds...http://www.alidymock.com ] and it's surprising how many things you have to calculate and think about if you want one that looks nice and is warm and waterproof. Like the U rating of insulaton, the length of boards available to buy v the size of shed to avoid wastage when cutting etc etc...I think I'll have to get my planning head on. After having said that, it does look pretty simple, but definitely labour intensive so I may fall down on that score , or it'll take me two years to make. I haven't even finished the porch fgs, but there were mitigating circumstances I feelToday I may sit in front of the computer or I may do something, no idea. I stopped off at the sm last night on the way home and yes, the loo roll aisle was definitely decimated, I wasn't buying any, I was just there for tea, milk and hankies for for snot-face, as I'm affectionately calling the OH at the moment due to him having managed to catch a cold...And we're out for curry tomight so he'd better make sure he isn't contagious ad eats night nurse like sweeties [no, not really before someone says how bad that is....]Nelski, I suppose the good thing about those clubs is that you do get meet people which is OK if you're feeling a bit shut in and starving for company. There may be different ones, I know there were a couple of different ones here for people who had cancer and were far younger than the usual fogey [like me] And get your tea dance dress ready! And the advantage of cutches is that you can be crotchety and sweep someone's legs from under them with one if you take a dislike to your partner...Nanny, you are having a poo time aren't you...Hope the sleep restores you. Bella, ouch! AOD, that's a bit unfortunate! Bloody WM! Gers, enjoy the sound of builders bums and copious strong tea...And don't go into the rabbit hole! And ew to the toenail, poor thing...TA, huzzah for no-scab Sparkle! Hey all reading along....Ferociously fantastic Friday!

TAFF - my builders are odd...no viewable bums and they don't want tea or coffee! They are busy sawing off the old wood and will replace it with new wood soon. Gone for lunch just now.The cleaner has been and done what she could. I've cancelled the window cleaning for next Monday as there will be no point until the work is finished. I've been out to the docs, the pharmacy and M&S. Now I'm having a wee sit down.Hugs to all.11

That's amazing! I did have one bloke here to do something to the chimney before and when I asked if he wanted tea or coffee, he said, have you got any sparkling water? I nearly had a fit!

Afternoon all. POPPY nice to hear from you again.Busy morning here, there and everywhere. First stop over the hilltops to the Vets and he was as pleased as me that her chin is looking so healthy. No telling how long this will last but he is hoping regular steroid injections will keep another infection at bay. She is a little favourite of his as it was he who had the long job of treating her when she was first taken in by the Cat Rescue, covered in the horrible rash and scabs. So it seemed sensible for me to keep going to the same vet who knew her and her history so well.
B & M next with no shortage of pet supplies, especially the cat litter I had gone in for, and no sign of any panic buying! Aldi too was quite civilised with well stocked shelves and nobody loading their trolleys with bleach, anti-bac hand wash or toilet rolls as I saw on the news! Maybe people now believe the Government when they say there will be no shortages. There was a lady before us with a trolley full of beers, wines and spirits and I couldn't decide if she was panic buying or having a party!! The only thing I couldn't get was smoked haddock which I was a bit miffed about as I am down to my last piece in the freezer!
It's feet up now for a short while with my nose in my book. Take care all xx

Here's the room now - new wood, old wood still there, big hole still there, good progress. The two blokes are working on both flats so still can't complain! I may just enjoy a wee glass tonight.10

A bit late to the party today, sorry. When I picked up the tablet this morning I realised that the charger hadn't been put in properly last night. Oh, all right, I didn't put the charger in properly last night, and the tablet was breathing its last. Hence the late start.
Nelski, What's with the reluctance to go tea dancing and playing bowls? I'm sure that they are both worthy activities. Personally I don't indulge in either for that very reason. The rub is that word 'activities'. I dislike activity. I long to live the life of an octogenarian in times past. I picture myself sitting by the fire with my shawl over my knees, peacefully knitting while my adoring family ply me with cups of tea and dainty meals. Sadly, my family haven't read their script.
TA, I know just where you are coming from with wondering where those little baby grandchildren have gone. It's like having your own children and thinking that the nappy changing, bottle sterilizing, broken nights will go on for ever. Blink twice and they are 50 years old and you are still looking for signs of improvement.
Reading through this thread I realise that the idea is to tell everyone what you have been doing or intend to do.
Very well.
Today I have tidied up all the mess in one room and re-distributed the mess throughout the house. Tomorrow I will start collecting up the mess and putting it back into the room designated for it.
There has to be a better system, but I've yet to discover it. A fly-lady I am not.
