Do you really want to work for this company where you're stuck in the corner doing all the work whilst others take the credit?  I fought an employer trying to get parity of pay with somebody who sat alongside me doing 30% less work. They wouldn't change so I chucked it in, temped for a bit, picked up a permanent role which was way better than theirs and which gave me an insight into an industry where years later I set up my own business and earned way more from it than that £500 extra I was looking for.

Accept the things you cannot change, change the things you cannot accept.  Hopefully your talents will be appreciated more elsewhere.
    Best post of the thread.
Hope you get on ok OP. Don’t let them grind you down x

Keep working, and mention something to the CEO at this moment you don't have much to lose.

Last time I was using temps, I'd ring the agency and expect to have someone with me by lunchtime - mind you these were genuine 'temp' positions covering sickness, and were unlikely to be long term. So yes, it can be fast!

Mention to the CEO on one of those late nights alone that you love the job and you’re hoping to be made permanent soon. Leave it at that.

However, rapport doesn’t always mean much when it’s about money and the bottom line.
Lastly this is a multi-billion pound company so part of me feels like Id be bothering him with little people's problem...
That's probably how he'd feel about it. From what you've said, you are either vastly over-valuing yourself; or you are letting yourself be treated like the proverbial doormat. Either way, there seems to be little evidence that this company is too bothered about retaining your services.
  • I don't understand why some companies appear to encourage and protect the gossipy/just chatting all day types, that do the least amount of work as possible, whilst happy to let go of the hardworking/loyal/getting on with it types.

If you are the only temp in the company (unlikely), I'd say you have about a week before you are replaced with another temp.

    Is it somehow regulated?
    Is what regulated?

For clarity, I meant that if the OP is the only temp in the company, the chances are that the reason her manager had a meeting with the Agency person was to discuss replacing the OP.

Because the ones who make the right noises to the right people get to stay; the ones who just get on with it don't fit in because they make the lazy sods look bad; they stick out so get fired because they tend to be the ones with opinions and no more sense than to voice them.  It does not pay to give a damn about your role unless you own the company, ime.

To the OP, just because a role may have been described by an agency as "temp to perm" confers no right whatsoever to be made permanent.  I've been in the head space you seem to be in; believe me, it does not work.  Stop giving a damn, stop working so hard and start making the right noises to the right people:  That is the route to a permanent role at that level.

I understand what you're saying and it makes sense. However, some people want to work hard, do their job as best as they can and do the right thing - it would be impossible as a matter of principle/character to just suck up to managerment and coast along.
Thankfully there are companies out there that appreciate hard work, integrity and honesty.

Once upon a time, I used to think as you do.  I hope your experience proves mine wrong and wish you well.
