We've had long running debates with British Gas about why the data from our smart meters are not being received, and a variety of explanations of varying plausibility. The big problem is really with the gas data. (We now have SMETS2 meters.) I know that the gas data is sent over the Home Area Network (HAN) to the Communications Hub which for us is now located in the same box as the electricity meter. The 2 meters are less than 5 feet apart, but it's clear that the gas data is not getting across on most days. In my research, I've found out about the OVO (and only OVO) Smart Relay device - looks like a wifi booster for the HAN, which OVO give out for such a problem. So, if it's now possible to switch suppliers and the smart meters to continue working using SMETS 2, would an OVO Smart Relay device work with my BG smart meters, and would OVO sell me one? I know there's other ways of going at this problem, but I'm looking for progress!

You can use an Optical Relay instead, free of charge and highly reliable.  You take the Optical Relay to the gas meter and then move it across to your laptop/ PC / smartphone so that the information can be transmitted directly to BG.  It's also known as an Eyeball.
