Vauxhall - Throttle Pedal Issues
Options
Is anyone else currently affected by the faulty throttle pedal sensor on some Vauxhall cars? My car went into the dealership on the 12th December and i was initially told it would be the new year when i got it back but i'm still waiting. I was recently told there are over 1200 cars across the country awaiting the same fix and parts are just not reaching dealerships.
I've been in a hire car they provided but my car is an Insignia estate so i can transport my dog in an expensive fully crash tested dog cage to keep him safe whilst also being able to use the rest of the boot for stuff which is normally a fair amount of stuff as we have a 2yr old as well. So far they've given me a Vauxhall Mokka which was rubbish and small then an Insignia hatchback which is bigger but still not very useful for our situation but Europcar are saying i cant put the dog in their cars which i'm having to ignore as its not feasible to do this and i can only insure me on it without making a 45 to 60min journey to the nearest branch to our house as they insist on my wife having to sign things in person to be insured on it. I've put up with it for a while but we are now approaching 3 months without my car over which time i've paid out over £1000 in monthly car payments, insurance and road tax. To top things off i had to make a special journey to the dealership to get some bits out of my car and they said they would bring it out of storage so i could do this. When i arrived it was shoved in their car park no where near the building really unlocked and unattended as the battery was dead. They had to boost it to drive it down then left it unlocked as they couldnt lock it. Its been standing outside in the weather we've had recently not being used so stank inside.
I'm getting nowhere with either the dealership or Vauxhall themselves with the only updates i'm getting basically telling me they still have no idea when a part will arrive to fix the car. We've already had one weekend away where we had to borrow a car that was big enough to do the trip and we are due to be going away for a week at Easter that currently dont have a car capable of being able to go.
Other than badgering the dealership and Vauxhall to get it sorted, the dealership got an earful yesterday after i found my car in that state, does anyone have any ideas where i can go to make a bigger deal of this issue? I cant believe that if the numbers affected are correct that its not been a bigger deal in the media.

The "state" of the car while in their possession is irrelevant - it's the state when they return it that matters. Leaving a modern car "outside in the weather" is not an issue at all. The battery may well suffer from being left unused - so I'd lean for a replacement battery on return.
Yes, major recalls are a PITA. Yes, they can take time. They've identified a serious safety-related fault, and are now designing, testing, manufacturing and distributing parts to resolve it... 1,200 cars just in the UK. What about all the other countries that the Insignia is sold in?
As far as the loan car is concerned - you are still mobile. It's your preference not to take the small effort to get your wife on the insurance. If you have a specific requirement, then you need to lean on the loan car provider to get that met.0 -
For info its not been recalled as yet, there is this large scale issue with the pedal causing the car to go into limp mode at any time from doing 20mph in urban areas to doing 70mph on a motorway. They are just waiting for cars to break and deal from there but as it stands cannot fulfil the parts they need.0
