DRO and change of name
Hiya I've got a quick question
I've changed my name by deed poll, I've informed the IS and they've changed my details on the Insolvency service register. Will the IS notify my creditors as they did to advise of the DRO or is that something I need to do, or do I need to do it at all, due the debts being frozen and written off after 12 months
Thanks

When you cange your name by deed poll companies will need to be updated, it's different to changing your name by marriage (you can use both names interchangeably). So in that respect, the creditors would need to be updated of your new name, as to whether the IS will update them on your behalf or not, I'm not sure. I would hazard a guess that they would update them for you, but it would be best to ask them if they do or not.
I may be wrong sometimes, I learn a little every time I'm corrected.1 -

Quick question, on an unrelated topic. I informed EE that I was going to get a DRO, I kept them up to date and once approved, I called them and informed them it was approved, as a result they've passed my account to a collections agency. Very have done the same too, can they do this if they've been informed of the DRO, as passing it to a collection agency wouldn't achieve anything given the debts are frozen and can't be chased while under the DRO
Thanks0 -

There is always the hope, in their mind, that your DRO may fail, in which case they can chase you again.
Sometimes the collection agencies are unaware of the DRO, you may have to tell them.

Anyone can change their name, as long as it's not done for dishonest reasons0
