Hi everyone,
I've been mia because I didn't think anyone needed to hear about my adventures in house cleaning. We've got Steve's sister coming down which gave me the impetus to do the work. It wasn't that the house was too bad but you know how these things creep up on you.
Anyway, most of it is done yet, I've just got Laura's old bedroom to finish. I've put all her cds in boxes - 5 of them holding about 100 cds each (she did a stint as a music journo so was sent a lot of freebies as well as collecting her own). We also have loads of copies of magazines and a paper she used to edit. A lot of the stuff has one in the loft because she doesn't want to get rid of it so I told her that it would be her job to sort through it when Steve and I died. She told me I was morbid but I'm just pragmatic.
Anyway, after picking SiL up from MK station we're going down to Laura's (I hope the M1 and M25 gods are kind to us) because she's going in to college tomorrow for the first time since she had Esben. She was a bit upset yesterday because she had to give him a bottle of formula but I told her that when she was a baby the advice was to wean at four months not six like it is now so he'd have been having different things anyway.

Morning all, we're back to wet and windy weather again !Not much to report here. I have a washing basket that is full so I'll have to sort that out today.......... why didn't I do it yesterday when the sun was shining, I'm sure it could have had a blow on the whirly
I do want to sort the freezers again, I don't know how they get in such a mess, but I'm not sure if they will get done today as the double meds are playing havoc. Think Zombie and double it
I'm running on autopilot at the moment. There is also some paperwork that needs shredding too, maybe I'll get that done as I can sit quietly in the office.
Dad has an invitation to tea and we're having gammon steaks and oven chips, with pineapple and an egg for those who want one (blimey had to ask himself for help spelling pineapple, and that's definitely not me, I'm usually so good at spelling) So not too taxing a tea, in any case Mr Fix It will help or take over
Take care all, hugs aplenty as always.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently15 -
Morning all! My crumpet batter has just finished rising so I've got four on the stove cooking gently away. Will repost back when I've tried one but since I usually need about half an hour to write a post, I'm sure I can squeeze in the results in a minute...The Jack Monroe recipe looked so easy and OH loves a crumpet so I had to try it...I got four rings on the big south american river quite cheaply so they're already in use, and I have been buying dried yeast lately to try some bread making so that was already hereToday I think I'm going to have to actually start doing things, I've been so lazy, just haven't felt like doing anything that involves physical effort beyond the usual housework, and I'm not sure whether it's just a function of grief but it really has to stop because apart form being on the computer all day I'm getting nothing done again....I think the big other half of the room tidy was so long ago that was the last time I really got up and went...The crumpets are edible and taste like shop crumpets but the appearance is somewhat lacking on first batch...Second batch cooking now...Nelski, wish I could help with the screwdriver and hammer fixing...tea dance sounds good though!
TA, minus temps? EWWW! It's just dul and raiing here...:) Gers, loin girding for mess and noise! Sorry, have to run and check the second lot of crumpets...Also hey zombie nanny...Hey all reading along! Tasty Thursday!

Back from shopping, Aldi was fairly quiet, they had obviously had a delivery, the staff were filling shelves. The only thing I wanted but could not get was fresh cod. I did pick up stewing beef, mince and belly pork, will cook the beef for tonight, mince weighed out into portions nagged and frozen, Pork just bagged and put in the freezer. Yesterday I ordered 6 Wiltshire farm foods they will deliver next Tuesday, at least then there is something in the freezer OH can cook if I am crook.
Grey and misty, cold wind, it has just started to rain again.
Coffee morning yesterday, not so many of us there, plenty of chat.......one lady did not seem to have registered that there was something causing great concern. No idea what Coronavirus was.
Sitting with my feet up after I have cooked the pot of beef. Will portion it out should get at least 3 portions out of it, I can always put a tin of haricot beans in to bulk it out a bit. There is raspberry jelly for dessert tonight.
Thoughts with RR glad the scan was not too bad, hope the results are ok next week.
Gers I hope the builders are tidy and clean up after themselves,
Nelski, you are doing so well, do not overdo it and put yourself back though.

I'm late starting today. I had to do my weekly shop today instead of tomorrow. I get a lift with a friend who likes her life to be well planned, so Friday morning shopping it is. Set in stone. Only this week it is Thursday morning and now I'm all put out.
Tescos was interesting. Some significant gaps, no hand sanitizer to be found, but plenty of loo rolls in spite of reports of people going wild for them.
Anyway, shopping is now unpacked, coffee and hot cross bun consumed, (excuse me, how did 2 packs of buns get into my trolley? I am on a diet you know!) and I am tucked up on the sofa feeling unwilling to move again.
Neski, Oh, go on. Go to the tea dance. Take your crutches and wreak havoc with them. You could have a lot of fun.
Who was it with a lot of books? Well, I have pruned my book collection severely, having moved 4 times in the last 10 years, so how come there seems to be even more now than there were to start with? I blame Amazon and Charity Shops.
Thank you all for your warm welcome yesterday. And no, you haven't poached me from the Fence thread. There is plenty of me to spread around and, as Judge Judy would say, I am an ecumenical abuser. I am also boring people on the Wartime Substitutions thread and am not above poking my nose into other threads if I fancy the idea.
Too much time on my hands, that's the trouble.
Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the day as far as possible.I believe that friends are quiet angels
