Lloyd's want over 500MB of my storage just to update its app

I now  have 369MB after using Power Cleaner for Android, but they still want 170MB more! I also have Bank of Scotland which is the same group, and their app demands the same. I now have the hassle and security concerns of banking via a browser, because I don't have a spare GB out of the 16 the phone came with :(

You could just add an SD card, format as internal storage and you'll have all the space you need.

Anyway on Android the majority of space isn't taken by the app, its taken by the cache.  So if you need to update you can clear an App's cache which should free up enough room, ahd then the app will rebuild its cache after you update/install it.  Course this will trash any settings/login details stored but...

Don’t know why bank of Scotland needs over 500MB on your phone. I have it on my iPhone and the app is 150MB

I'm wondering if there isn't a huge cache built up that they are going to duplicate in the new app. I think I'll delete the existing app then apply again from browser banking. It's Android Nougat, so is there a way to ensure that all associated files that have been created without my knowledge get deleted?

150MB is not an App it's an OS, never mind requiring 500MB.   Showing my age here?   What is the App doing with 500MB?

Just checked and the App is only 52.31MB. As mentioned I think your cache is the issue, clear it.

Which phone do you have, as it may well be possible to install a micro SD card and move some of your apps to that.

My Bank of Scotland app shows 162MB of storage used:

    App size 149MB
    User data 12.28MB
    Cache 737KB

Barclaycard app shows 174MB of storage used .. 169MB for the app.

My current phone is a Samsumg Galaxy A3. 16 GB internal memory and an 8 GB memory card which is only used to store photographs.
    On this phone I have:

    Natwest mobile banking app,
    WhatsApp,
    Skype,
A couple of alarm clock apps,
    Facebook,
    Online sharedealing account,
    BA mobile app,
Google maps with half a dozen maps downloaded
    National lottery app
And an assortment of other applications that are all fairly small in size.

16 GB may not be enough for some, but for many people, it's more than enough.
