Completion date

Hiya,

My solicitor wants to me give a completion date I have in mind.

I don't know how to figure it out-
I have to give my landlord one month notice (6th of every month).
I can't afford to pay two places.

The home I'm buying is vacant.
Is it realistic to set date on 27th April?

If your solicitor is asking for a completion date from you i'm guessing you are well on your way through the process by now. Think about the date that works best for you in terms of your rent, being able to take time off to move (if needed?), family and friends availability to help with the move (assuming they are local). The date you give your solicitors is a starting point for them to discuss and agree with the other party. If the 27th April works for you then great suggest it, this would give you a little over a week's overlap between renting and paying a mortgage.

I’m doing the same with an overlap. Completion date is 27th March, so we need to give our one month’s notice on 11th March, the day we pay rent.
We will then hand keys back on 10th April. Although, this is Good Friday, so they may not come and inspect the house that day.. I’m hoping all will be in order so we can give the keys back on the 9th April.
