Are mosaic wall tiles really £60+ per Sqm?

We're after mosaic wall tiles for one wall in the bathroom, the sheets that are approx 30cm x 30cm. Had a look around a few tiles places locally today (in Essex) and all prices seem to be between £68 and £80+ per Sqm?   Is there anywhere else to look?

Mosaic tiles vary hugely in price depending on what you're after.   But the cheapest ones should be less than £5 per 30x30cm sheet,

edit: actually, checking the maths, that's not far off your figures.  (Roughly 12 sheets per sq metre).

In a word, yes.   Nice ones cost waaay more than that.

Mosaics, on the whole, are a bit 2003.  😬

All of this, especially the bit about doing it well. If they aren't absolutely straight in both planes.....
And 2003 was just one of the re-entry of these things into the DIY fashion zone. I remember doing some in our first house in 1981 and using OBO nails to position the things first. Still bloody hard!

We had some done by a professional tiler. He did not do a neat job.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

This is true.  It's gone the other way now with shower walls.  I'm trying ti like them but can't yet.

We're tiling a bathroom in 120 x 45cm tiles this week.  Not heavy at all 😂

I might, but my DW employed someone to fit them who had never done so before, so I have huge reservations, having seen how pathetically the offcuts disintegrated when I tested their strength!

We used mosaic tile in our bathroom as a decor strip (if that's the right term) to break up the plain tile we used on the rest of the wall.  I was a bit nervous as I'd read it was hard to work with, but we were only using a 10cm strip and I purchased stiffening stuff to put behind it to make it easier.  We did the tiling ourselves, so took the time to get it exactly right.
The previous owners of our house, however, had mosaic tile laid on the shower floor, and the "professional" they hired did a dreadful job.  It's all wavy and the water pools everywhere, the grout is truly awful to keep even reasonably clean.  So I'd be very careful about who is doing the tiling.
As for price, try looking at online places.  We got ours from Tile Mountain a lot cheaper than we could locally but they are certainly expensive.
