In regards to signing up to social media sight, I signed up a few years ago and it was horrendous. To cancel the Japan holiday would cost us thousands with respect to you, we are pensioners, and this trip was for my 70th birthday and took a long time to save up, and it was top of our bucket list.
I will still emphasise that they are stopping us from embarking this ship.0 -
What's horrendous about signing up to a site, posting feedback then logging off? Honestly, you've gone to more trouble on this thread!bully1950 said:In regards to signing up to social media sight, I signed up a few years ago and it was horrendous. To cancel the Japan holiday would cost us thousands with respect to you, we are pensioners, and this trip was for my 70th birthday and took a long time to save up, and it was top of our bucket list.

As for your bucket list, you may have to postpone. The last place I'd contemplate heading if I were a pensioner would be a cruise ship.3 -
I would check first that the Japanese cruise still will still be going ahead and check out the government websites for travel advice before doing anything else.1

Thanks to all that have responded. I have just received an Email from the President of P&O Cruise Line and he has promised to investigate and come back to me and quickly as possible. 🙏🏻3

Firstly I would like to thank everyone that has tried to help me.
But after a lot of negotiation and emphasising that I did not cancel my cruise and it was P&O that would not allow me on board their ship, they decided to pay me back in full.
Happy holidays to everyone 😎10 -
Great news...
Sounds like a staycation to enjoy your 70th Birthday

So much wrong with P&O's approach.
Firstly, even if they are claiming circumstances outwith their control, that only means they can escape liability for additional losses. Doesn't mean they can keep some of your money on credit.
Secondly, even if they do put it on credit, there is the right to offset - where money owed by one party (say the credit) can be offset against money owed by the other (the balance of the other cruise). This is a legal mechanism designed to avoid unnecessary legal proceedings. Perhaps highlight this to them also. You keep using that word.
