Closing AVRO Account and Final Bill Issue

I left Avro at the end of January 2020 due to price.
I had switched to AVRO in April 2018.
In April 2019, with an account credit of £179, I stayed with AVRO but switched to a cheaper tariff. I agreed to have the credit in the account applied to a reduced DD from the quoted monthly amount of £211 to £197. In subsequent statements there is never any mention of this credit being applied to my account. Today I have found that the final bill from AVRO shows a credit as I expected but I was also expecting the £14/month credit I had built up to also be credited to the account for the outstanding 3 months of the 12 month contract. AVRO write:
'We use the closing meter readings from your new supplier to make sure you are not charged twice for the same supply. If you believe these to be incorrect please contact your new supplier as we are unable to alter your final bill until a new transfer read has been agreed with them. Any credit or debit is according to the usage; I understand you incorporated credit to reduce your monthly payments at your last tariff change, however how much credit is on the account will vary according to usage.

At the point of your last tariff change, we originally quoted £211.00. However, you then requested for credit to be used to reduce the monthly payments, which reduced them to £197.00. As the the credit was already on your account, it cannot be re-applied on each statement, since it has already been applied at the point where the tariff change was made. '
Isn't this a bit suspect? I can find no evidence of the £179 credit being applied to the tariff for these past 9-months .... Has anyone else experienced this before or should I realise that I made a mistake and always take the full credit immediately? I just hated the thought of monthly payments at £211!!!
