You could maybe get a Curve card and then use the RoosterMoney and/or a GoHenry card as the underlying cards - its sort of depends on how much you keep an eye on a daily basis of transactions.to swap them as needed.Clive1056 said:
Just looked at RoosterMoney .......all was going well until .....tehone said:I think a Rooster Money (aimed mainly at kids like gohenry) will do everything you require (if it does please do pm me for a referral code).
The 25 spends in 7 days will rule my son out .....he uses it on average 10 times each and every day !Maximum Card number of spends per day.........................
15
Maximum Card number of spends within 7 days.............
25
But Thanks for the suggestion. I'll keep trying. I'll be looking at Curve next !
I also wonder if you could somehow incorporate contactless mobile payment in somehow0 -
quote "He is vulnerable with cash and has, in the past, been abused by several of his friends whereby they make him give them cash daily."
give this info to whoever you try to get a card for him from.
He is at risk and vulnerable dont give him a credit card0 -
Unfortunately, the problem is that when he has cash in his pocket, his "friends" (or scum of the earth, as I refer to them) force him to give them cash so that they can buy their beer and drugs..........hence the need for no ATM access. As his current card has a daily limit of £30 and I get to track his spending and where he is (by his purchase history), the card holds no interest for those "friends".2e0arr said:just give them walking about cash money, bus fare, snack ,money .I do not think a special needs adult should be issued with a credit or debit card. I can see a robbery waiting to happen.
Cash is simply not an option for him for other reasons too.0 -
I've tried Monzo today.........they're going to get back to me (hopefully) if their "special accounts" team can help me, but they can't promise anything at the moment.eDicky said
Well, you managed to open an N26 account for him. Starling, Monzo and Revolut will probably verify him electronically in the same way, without any documentary requirements. Why not try, they cost nothing...
N26 bank didn't verify anything with me at all. I set the account up in my son's name, with APP installed on my mobile phone. Card and account are in my son's name but they didn't ask for any ID or any verification at all. It's worked really well for 2 years or so now.......
Monzo and Revolut (and Starling, if I remember correctly) all want photo id, video clip, and proof of address for verification. Other than voters register, I can't provide any proof of address for him..............Oh, and they want the customer to confirm that they have mental capacity to open such an account (although I can't remember the exact terminology that they use) .....and he quite clearly hasn't .......hence the Court of Protection Order.0 -
apart from stealing his money what other unspeakable things do they do to him ?0

Monese is an alternative, which promotes itself on not needing any proof of address to be able to open an account.
Although it may lack some of the features you are looking for.0 -
If you're not able to get a card that limits the spend to £30 a day, could you just automatically transfer £30 a day instead?
If it starts building up as he isn't spending it all, you could manually take some back out every now and again.0 -
I'm in a similar situation to your own whereby my son with Special Needs ideally requires a contactless prepaid card with the types of restrictions which you specified, and where proof of ID/address is problematic. Were you able to find a solution to your situation, and if so could you provide an update please? It would be greatly appreciated - thank you.0
