How long Should I wait for PPI payout

I put a claim in for PPI for my deceased mother to Great Universal at the beginning of August 2019 after seeing Martin on TV. I sent all items recorded delivery they then emailed me to get a copy of some documents which I did by return, but to date I have not heard anything back. last month I sent another letter requested some information but have yet to hear anything.  I think my mum would be entitled to a bit of money.  What can I do? what is my next step.

Remember, you're not claiming, so there may not be any 'payout'.  You need to wait for them to investigate your complaint.

Give it a few more months.

On what basis do you think she would have  been  "entitled"?

Escalate it to the Ombudsman. I had not heard from RBS after filing my complaint in August and so in December I contacted the ombudsman. This prompted RBS who have now accepted the claim. I'm cutting them some slack because they were swamped with claims before the deadline, and now they have staff off because of corona virus, and because every day the money is with them rather than me it clocks up 8% interest which is better than you'll get if you put it into savings.

Wait for their response.  They're deluded with late complaints and if you go to FOS, you're going to be put at the back of the queue.

But bear in mind you're not waiting for a payout. You're waiting for the results of the complaint investigation.

Escalating to the FOS isn’t cutting anyone any slack.

also, 8% of £0 (if the complaint is rejected) is still £0, so don’t get your hopes up and you won’t be disappointed.

When your mother receives the cheque what is she planning to do with it?

    The mother is deceased. :(
This is a bumped up old thread and it's unlikely the poster concerned will still be reading in any case.

Escalating to the Ombudsman after 5 months is of course within my rights. Giving RBS some time in current circumstances is fair and reasonable, and this is what I've done.
Oh and I got £5k, thanks.
