Good morning
Such a lot happening on this thread
Nelski - last week when I tried to compliment you on moonwalking, predictive text tried to change it to footballing. Seems it was more predictive than I realised! Goodness knows what you'll be doing next!
Red Ruby - respect! You are so positive that I feel only good outcomes are possible.
Dumpling - I love the way you keep picking yourself up and starting again. Your new recipe sounds tasty.
Nothing much happening here, but I think I'm glad about that. We've been out somewhere everyday since DH came out of hospital for a wander and a change of scenery but he's meeting a friend this afternoon so I'm about having a whole day at home for a treat!
Happy quiet Wednesday everyone15 -
Morning all, frosty and dry here today. Already done my meditation, picked up OF and been shopping and had brekkie...phew.think I need a lay down!! Mr T's was quiet apart from the personal shoppers. I have to say the tinned goods isle looked scarce, people getting their store cupboards replenished just in case perhaps. I spent an hour or so in the garden yesterday afternoon before the rain came. I have identified a small patch that I might turn into a little veggie patch. The grass is mostly moss so never grows properly but with a dig over It would at least it would give me a bit of growing space. There are some overhanging branches from next doors tree but have chatted to her and she says it might as well come down. We will split the cost. It's a very old already topped conifer of sorts about 20ft and close to her greenhouse so not a job we fancy tackling ourselves. Just hope it's not to expensive but it's a little project to get excited about.
RR sounds like you have a great team on your side so pleased that you are all on the same page.
DUMPLING thinking of you I know how much that black dog can affect ones daily life.
No plans today really apart from a couple of bits of ironing, I have loads of filing to do so may tackle that job. Have a good one all. X‘It never hurts to keep looking for sunshine’ - Winnie the Pooh13 -
Good morning, I've been missing g for no good reason other than feeling a bit bogged down.
Ruby my friend had a double mastectomy for very similar reasons to yours and she had reconstruction surgery at the same time. She was meant to have nipples tattooed on but I don't believe she ever got round to it. She no longer needs to wear a bra so she only ever does when she's feeling fancy. But she did have to wear a very supportive sports bra during the recovery period.
Dumpling hope you start to feel a bit better soon.
Nelski you are doing amazingly well.
TA I think k I enjoyed The Thread most.
I am going for a most exciting outing today, to buy some toy stuffing as I've run out. Or I could order in bulk online but the last time I did that, the stuffing had some gritty bits.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back16 -
Bright sunny morning, I have windows open, its almost as if the weather is making fools of us after the awful month we have just been through, I keep looking for the rain clouds!!
RR I am so pleased you appointment yesterday went well and that you will be able to have reconstruction surgery at the same time.
Coffee morning at the little chapel this morning, no handshakes and no kissing.
Shopping tomorrow, I will be getting a few extra bits and am also going to order 6 dinners for the freezer, just a precaution, not going mad, cannot afford to.
Had to retune the TV this morning, looks like freesat has done an update, OH was moaning he could not watch morning TV.
We had a power cut last night, lights went out at 6.15, came back on just after 7pm, no idea what the problem was. I need to get more candles and also replace the torch we had. It does not happen very often but its a pain in the butt when it does. Roll on the end of this month when I order my new cooker......with a gas hob we should be able to at least have a hot drink and hot water bottles.
Supper tonight, smoked haddock with bread and butter. Need to put my thinking cap on re dessert.15 -
Good morning.
I always read this thread but almost never contribute as I could spend all day on my tablet if I was not very strict with myself.
However, I understand that there is a vacancy for an ancient crone here. (Jumps up and down waving hand in air.) I'm even older than our dear Jackie, so I ever so 'umbly present my credentials.
Today I just couldn't leave without saying how terrific I think you all are. Dumpling, I've mentally been with you every step of the way during your struggles with your weight. It doesn't help the depression, does it? I am so impressed with the way you keep picking yourself up and starting the battle all over again. It takes a strong character to do that.
TA, you have been so brave during the most traumatic time. I love to hear of your life looking after your girls.
Nelski, tackling the things you have to cope with, with such good humour takes some doing. We can only guess at the frustration and despair that lies behind your brave, chirpy front. Well done you.
Red Ruby, what can I say? Not only have you had such a difficult time in your home life, but now this! Please know that there is an army of people, unknown to you, praying for you and wishing you well. You are well supported. I could even knit you a pair of nipples if it would help......with or without tassels.
I must stop there. Someone is coming for coffee in less than an hour and I have a days housework to fit in before then.
Thank you for putting up with me. xI believe that friends are quiet angels

Morning all,I'm on the sleep roller coaster again as I slept for11 hrs and hardly anything the night before. Anyway I have nothing booked in to be done today, so I will just potter around or read or watch TV. Plus I've started on my double dose of meds this morning so I will probably be spouting gobbleydgook by the end of the day. No difference there then
I rang Dad yesterday and he said his heating pump was making a dreadful noise, so he called a local firm with which he has a service agreement and they were there within 2hrs. "Marvellous service" says the man who didn't want to renew this year, and every year. I tell him every year that's it's peace of mind for me to know that he won't be cold. According to him they are ripping him off as are everyone else, the water firm, gas, electric, council......... the list goes on, and on.
Dumpling happy to see you back, I had been wondering where you were. I think anyone would be worried about this virus if you are elderly and/or have very little or no immune system....it's only natural.Monna lovely to have you. Have we pinched you from the Fencers or will you spread yourself around ! Ohhh that sounded rude
RedRuby blimey ! Wow that team is very on the ball ! Hope today goes well. Many hugs and lots of love to you.Nelski glad to hear you won't change, but don't go near any phone boxes or you could come out as the new wonder woman
Righty ho I must start my doing almost nothing day
Oh dear strike that last sentence ...... Mr Fix It has just done a dive from his computer chair as he caught his foot in some wires !! I'll now be nurse nanny. He's ok but I'll expect he'll milk it ! Told him to tidy up many times before, but it went in one ear and out the other !!! So..... told him so
Take care all, the hug bucket is full should anyone be in need.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently13 -
Mono....what a lovely addition to our group of friends
I am sad our Jackie left the forum but fortunately she is a FB friend as well as from real life too after a very wild weekend in Blackpool some years ago
what happened in Blackpool stayed in Blackpool is all Im saying....Her actions belie her age and I suspect the same is true of you. Looking forward to reading about your life as time goes on.
nanny ....I wish ....more like wonky woman
Hope Gers hasn't fallen through the floorboards!

Afternoon all! Found a really good series of youtube videos about a bloke building a shed from scratch [more garden room than shed - which is my intention but I don't think I communicated that to OH very well] so my day is watching how to's...And planning panic buying wood and nails and angle things and all things DIY [well...you never know...no, not really, I'm waiting for good weather to start but I could make a start on the groundworks I suppose...Did I mention it was raining today?]I'm going to a talk tonight by Chris Beardshaw so looking forward to that. After the crumpet thread, I'm also awaiting delivery of some cooking rings so I can make some this afternoon or tomorrow. Never made them before and I am looking forward to that too. The stew is nearly finished. I had the bright idea of trying to make sage and onion stuffing dumpling balls...needless to say it didn't go well, but luckily I made them in separate pan so I now have some sludgy sage and onion soup type gubbins to transform into something more tasty if I can. I'll scrape off the solidified suet [ luckily I used vegetable suet but I'm not sure if that counts as slightly more healthy or not! I'm thinking not...]dumpling, nice to see you and I hope your dog has gone for a very long fetch. Yes, it is worrying but hopefully a worry which is soon contained...TA, good to hear your cheesy bake is still going strong, have you asked for the recipe yet? Is there any way a crowdfund could keep them open? Nanny, or should I say Nurse Nightingale, hope he's better soon, and good to hear you've slept...Hope the meds don't side effect too badly...I like you fairly compos
Nelski, blimey, football? In this weather? Hats off to you! Cut yourself slack too when you feel down, you're doing brilliantly! Igneous rock! [I'm runnig out of you rock comparisons...you're just too good] Gers, hope they're going a bit quicker today! Monna, ancient crone? I think not...lady with fantastic stories and lots of life experience
Rudy, good news that it will be limited to one op, hope the scan goes well. I love the NHS, they are always there for the important things. I wish people would stop using it for general rubbish that could be sorted with a band aid or a couple of days rest...Anyway, hey all reading along....Wishy washy Wednesday....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi15 -
Good afternoon all - I haven't been idle this morning! The builders (two this time) arrived at 9.00am and began work straight away. I took myself outside on a trail round the West End. Timpson's for a new watch battery, the bank, the docs surgery, the tip, Waitrose and finally a PO. It's a lovely spring morning which made it a joy to be outside.DUMPLING - welcome back and well done on more overcoming.NELSKI - flpping marvellous! You sound so positive and determined.REDRUBY - ditto with a cherry on top. Your surgeons sound fabulously caring and you also sound so positive. Once the decision had been made you must have felt relief.TA - such a shame about your cafe though I was pleased to read that you had Cheesy Bake again.Welcome to our wee world MONO.CSARINA - power cuts are so horrid, being prepared is always good.NAN - enjoy your pottering day. Here's todays mess so far:-
The builders are very neat and keep clearing up as they go.Now it's time to feed and water DM and myself.Happy rest of Wednesday to everyone.
