Passport Application

Hello,

Basically I am trying to apply for my first Passport, however I have a problem which continues to be obstructive.

I do not know anyone in a professional context and have not done so for 2 years.

I have various health issues and therefore I've never actually had the same person for long enough for treatment.

I don't know any teachers, solicitors or anyone basically, I've read the requirements over and over.

I've been trying to sort this for over 2 years because anyone I've known always leaves and I end up with someone else before the time is lapsed.

Ages ago I telephoned the Passport service and asked if they could do it, but they said no.

Surely for someone in my position, if I attended a Passport office they'd be able to verify me?
Failing that would the Police do it for me?
Otherwise I have no idea what to do.

Thank you in advance.

The verification needs to be done by somebody who knows you, staff in the passport office do not.  All they have is the information you provide and you could put anything on the application form.  Your GP may be willing to do it, but there may be a cost.  Speak to somebody at your surgery.

The list of suitable countersignatories is not exclusive, if you have a friend or neighbor who has known you long enough, as long as they have a stable career and position in the community and are not a criminal or deadbeat you can have them countersign.

Hi, Hijacking this thread for a different passport enquiry.    I recently received my new updated passport, and failed to read the info regarding signing and stupidly signed below the line  instead of above it.  I have rung the passport office to ask if i have invalidated it, they were pretty useless.  Bascily the response was... It should be fine as long as i don't put a second signature in, but there is no guarantees!...  If you were me, for the sake of £80 should i tell them I have lost it and get a replacement ... I have a luxury holiday i am hoping to take in December which is costing big bucks.. The thought of being refused entry to Australia terrifies me!.. Thanks.

Wouldn’t worry about where the signature is. The main part is the bio page and the cover that has the chip in it.

The applications are examined onscreen digitally. The examiners don’t even see the passport. When your application is completed, your old passport will be returned to you   The passports will stay in Glasgow but the applications could be done by any office

As you will be going for an identity interview it doesn’t really matter if you have anyone to countersign it.  If you send your application in without one you shouldn’t be asked for one.
