Selling house, moving to new build

I am purchasing a new build that will has a completion date of July/August. I have placed my current house on the market but will only be able to move out when the new build is ready.
Will this put buyers off?
Will I be relying on first time buyers who can hopefully wait?
Any advice appreciated.

We are in the same boat - we are selling our current place to buy a new build.  We couldn't make an offer on the new build until we had an offer on the current property as the current property sale is funding the purchasing of the new build.  So far so good for us, we have a buyer who is fine with the idea that we can't complete until June/July (the long stop on the new build is July but I'm hoping it can be brought forward).
I wouldn't have thought 4 months would be too offputting, my limited understanding of conveyancing is that it can take a lot longer to complete!

I am also selling mine to get a new build. And can’t reserve until I have an offer. Luckily I have somewhere to go if I do need to get out.

You might struggle to find many first time buyers as they're still being lured by the Help to Buy system, showing them bigger/better houses than they can really afford and making them think they're affordable + they're new.

You might find a cash buyer, they're flexible and can wait, but it'd have to be special else they'll just buy somebody else's.

Your best option is to sell your house - and be the one that says "I'll move out so you can move in. I'll rent"... so you don't put barriers in the way.
