Weekend Trip - Lille or Brussels?

Hello,
I am looking at taking my mum on a trip for Mother's Day, from 20th - 22nd March. She's not keen on flying but trains within the UK seem incredibly expensive when booking this close. Eurostar offers train and hotel deals which look great, and there is not much price difference on deals for Lille and Brussels.
Which would you recommend, for a short trip? We enjoy museums, galleries, and food, and don't mind having to walk.
Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide!

Usually the fare to Lille is the same as to Brussels. I have been to both for long weekends and have found plenty to do.Lille has a very good galleryand Roubaix, a suburb on the metro, has the splendid PiscineThere are also lots of impressive building to look at and visit.Brussels has lots of galleries and museums many of which are together near the palace such as Beaux Arts and a Magritte gallery next door. There is an excellent musical instrument museum across the road and many others.I think some galleries offer 2 for 1 entry if you show your Eurostar tickets.
