Called E.ON to give them my new DD payment details - Nationwide FlexPlus (current account) starting with 07-08-06 sort code. But they said their system doesn't recognize that sort code. After he spoke to his supervisor , he said E.ON can't setup DD payments from a building society??!! Someone please tell me this isn't true....

    Hi Highland76,

    I'm sorry this didn't get resolved over the phone.

    It shouldn't be a problem setting up your Direct Debit with this account, have you tried to do it via your online account? Or have a word with the guys on Live Chat, also on the website.

    The only thing that has caused an issue like this in the past, was when a bank released new sort codes, as they were new they weren't compatible with the systems. This was resolved, after it was raised.

    Thank you.

    I'm wondering if they just typed it in wrong. Did they ask you to repeat any of the details. I'm with E.ON and Nationwide and I've never had a problem setting up a direct debit.

    Yes, I asked them to confirm the sort code & account number a few times. They definitely had the correct details.

    Anyway I managed to change the DD online, however in doing so I was forced to change the DD amount from £72/m to £34/m which is too low. So I called EON again and whilst they have now have my new bank details, they are unable to change the DD amount back to £72/m because the system won't let them. But bizarelly they offered to change to it £112/m. I asked them to leave it at £34/m

    @Helena
    Any reason why E.ON can't change my DD amount to how it was originally? My account is in credit by ~ £300 so there's no way on God's earth i am increasing this to £112/m lol

    Morning Highland76,

    We can change the amount, the advisor you spoke to should really should have asked a few more questions to set the Direct Debit amount accurately, as I agree £34 per month does sound too low.

    I would suggest using the Direct Debit manager via your online account, you can change the amount by 20% when you've updated your account with accurate reads. Or please do speak to us again, as we need to make sure you're paying the correct amount.

    Thank you
