Anyone replaced sbestos roof tiles?

My survey has come back on 1930s semi detached house.
Most things standard, some slight mould due to no ventilation in the windows and apparently half the kitchen is basically held up with blutac! I did know the kitchen was in need of replacing at some point.
Main concern is asbestos roof tiles. I expected it in the garage and ceiling/artex but hadn't heard of it on house roofs.
Now I've googled a bit I see it is pretty common in old houses.
I'm going to get someone out to quote cost to remove and dispose of. I will then report back to my seller with an altered offer for the house.
The survey said it looks in OK condition, with a part of it being recently repaired. I would want it replaced soon after moving in as if anything needs doing to it (TV aerials/chimney etc) then it would be a right pain.
Anyone had this done on their home?

As with all builderwork, you would be best seeking a number of like-for-like quotations/tenders from appropriate (in this case licenced) contractors.
Health Warning: I am happy to occasionally comment on building matters on the forum. However it is simply not possible to give comprehensive professional technical advice on an internet forum. Any comments made are therefore only of a general nature to point you in what is hopefully the right direction.

Does the roof actually need replacing? Why not just leave it.
If I was your vendor I would absolutely decline a reduction in price due to the roof.

Thankyou, I will get a few quotes to get a good idea.
I'm very aware it's their choice if they'll accept a lower offer or prefer to put it back on the market. Someone else may not see it as an immediate problem. I can easily look for something else if the figures don't work for both of us. They will have a price they can't go below after all

What did the surveyor say? I doubt he said 'there is asbestos'. Probably more like 'may be asbestos, get it checked and priced up for removal, etc'.

    It's fine if undisturbed.

Surely you'll just be wanting someone to test it at this stage? Then you can reassess. Absolutely pointless getting a quote for an entire roof replacement without knowing it's there for definite. I would also tell you to jog on I'm afraid.

Older concrete roof tiles , as with many building products, contained asbestos. Replaced roof tiles a couple of years back. All that was required were special disposal skips. With fees on top the total costs for the tile disposal came in at about £800. Roofers weren't concerned in the least. Said were used to taking precautionary measures.
Good opportunity to improve roof insulation at the same time. Newer tiles are more efficient too.

    Thanks for the replies.
    The survey says
'the roof is of asbestos, although there is no damage I could see this will deteriorate in the future and will require replacing by a credited company only. The reselling of the property may be affected by this. Repairs have been made to parts of the roof. The roof is of asbestos and this should be considered as these repairs may have allowed fibres to be released. This is considered to be high risk and should appoint an asbestos company to view.'
I'm currently getting quotes to have it looked at and see what I'm dealing with.
