Tandem card closing and new Journey card

Called Tandem yesterday and asked them about applying for a new Journey card after the 9th of March when my cashback card closes

They said to avoid the rush I could close  my cashback card there and then on the phone and then wait overnight and in the morning apply on the app for a new Journey card

They closed my account on the phone and I went onto the app this morning and sure enough I could apply for a Journey card

Simple enough application although entering date of birth was a bit of a pain

That is good to know. But myself like many others on this forum already took the precaution of applying for halifax clarity as Tandem said people couldn't get the journey card if they had held the cashback card previously.

Valuable lesson for them I guess

For me I'll just let Tandem go. They haven't made contact to say that it's possible to switch to the Journey card. They said a categorical no when I asked early on. The recent views of their founder Ricky Knox about their customer base make me not want to stay with them either. I have a Clarity card already which I'll use when abroad. I like the instant app notifications of spending, but the above is enough for me to walk.
  • I’m letting Tandem go too. Pity. I enjoyed using it and it’s app with the automatic savings. It showed me I could save more than I thought I could.

I went for the Natwest’s 9% credit card with 0% charges for foreign transactions. I have a decent credit rating so I thought I might as well apply for a card which reflects this.
