Engine Warning Light after Hitting Pot-Hole

I have a 62 plate Kia Rio 1.1 CRDi - was overtaking a rather slow driver on a country road and hit a pot-hole (wasn't there last time I drove down this road) and the engine management light came on immediately.
Car seems to be driving fine (for an underpowered 3 cylinder diesel) is a sensor having a fit from the shock? Got to work OK which was another 30 miles mainly motorway. Stopped at work, restarted the car, light is still on.
It's due a service next week so I am probably just going to wait until then.
Anyone had a similar issue or know what this might be?

You need to ask the car why it's put the light on. EOBD readers are cheap, or take it to a garage.0

If you're going to continue driving it until your service next week then I'd get it looked at sooner rather than later, it might be nothing but it could be more serious and you could end up exacerbating the problem.0

Quick update, the light went out the day after. Car seems fine.

I'd still have them read for codes when it is in for service. There will probably be a historical fault code stored which could well indicate what caused the light. Unless it's one of many in the history, then it could be difficult determining which code was set "by the pothole"

Yeah that's a good point, will ask them to do it as long as they don't want to charge an arm and a leg for it. Due service and MOT next week, wish me luck!
