The result of the work today.  All the laminate lifted and stacked, along with the underlay.  The builder has opened up part of the floor so far.  Again, he's on his own so progress is not as fast as it could be, however I'm not complaining.  He's also brought up lots of bags of what looks like gravel to put back into the joists later once the work is done and a pile of noise and dust making equipment for later on. Tomorrow he'll put braces in the flat downstairs to support it's ceiling as he'll be digging out the stuff up here.  He'll also be opening up a lot more of the flooring!  Think his missing mate will be back too.

In other news I 'won' a victory in a small battle with nPower today which made me very happy.  They sent out an email inviting me to sign up to a new tariff as mine was coming to an end.  When I tried to do that I was told that I have to have a smart meter fitted or go onto a different and more expensive tariff.  I'm not going to have a smart meter installed.(no signal etc).  Anyway, the T&Cs only say that I have to agree to 'receive communications regarding smart meters' not that I have to have one so the poor agent had to concede! Win....
