ID Check

Hi,
I never been asked to provide identification. My ID is always verified electronically. However from middle of January everything has changed.
Apply for child go Henry account ID was requested.
Application for Virgin credit card and TSB although it was accepted online but then it said they will have to do further checks. Within 5 days email received with approval.
I also hold an a account with Revoult which I hold for over a year. They emailed me yesterday asking for ID. Worries other banks may follow the same route.
I have checked Cifas and there is nothing recorded in my name. I will also send application to National Hunter.
Are there any other fraud prevention organisations?
It has to be something which causing the problem.
Thanks

Also I applied for child savings account with Natwest. They sent application pack to go into the branch with ID. A week later my child directly made another application which he re dived email stating application pack will be sent out however we didn't receive anything through the post. I can see a day later a soft search was carried our.Just wondering if Natwest has put something which is asking lenders to verify my ID. Because just after my ID check started to fail.0

Are you still on the electoral role ? Do you have any accounts showing an old address ?

I am on electoral. All of my accounts are on new address. It is just effecting me. My wife is financially linked with my on credit report due to joint mortgage. She has a diffirent surname to me. She is being verified electronically without any problems.

Could it be that your surname, or even full name is close to something on a watch\sanctions\politically exposed persons list ? This would mean the bank has to be careful that the name matched isn't you

Regulations have been getting tighter over recent months so it's quite possible that this is simply a result of that - they need to be absolutely sure it really is you applying for the account(s). At the end of the day branch visits arent a huge issue, but I appreciate it's probably inconvenient.
I'd triple check your Credit files from all 3 CRAs as well as submit SARs to CIFAS and National Hunter and have a look for any inconsistencies that might be slowing down your applications.0 -

It can be a big issue.Banks have been closing branches for years. Some don't have many branches to start with. Let's suppose, just for the sake of argument, that I applied for an account with Virgin Money, and they wanted me to take ID to a branch. Their nearest "money store" is in Southampton, over 20 miles away. Taking ID there would be a major issue: it'd take pretty much all morning. (Wait for bus; bus journey to railway station; wait for train; train to Southampton; walk from station to money store. Reverse to come home. And it's even worse at present - a lasndslip has closed the line, so there's bustitution between Salisbury and Romsey stations.) I'd give up in those circumstances. And I live in a fair-sized town with a decent rail service: just think what it's like for someone in a relatively remote village. As more and more banking is handled online and branches become fewer and further in between, requiring people to take ID to a branch becomes more and more problematic. Banks need to find better ways of verifying identity than this. (I'm no fan of RBS, but at least their system of asking prospective customers to scan/photograph documents and upload them is better.)

How many applications in total have you made recently?0

In last 12 months 4 credit applications and all were approved. Some unrecorded enquiry but that does not show up to the lenders. There is no cifas recorded. When I have a chance will be sending request for National Hunter report.
If I request DPA record from Virgin Money is it likely to show why credit card application was referred.
