Should I get SSE to install smart meters BEFORE switching to Utilita?
Options
I'm with SSE with a credit meter for gas but a prepayment meter for electricity. I want to switch to Utilita, both with a credit meter. SSE have sent me a letter offering to upgrade my prepayment meter to a smart meter. What's the best course of action, please?

If you want to switch with both meters set to credit, you would need SSE to make the change first.
However, I would advise against switching to Utilita if you want to use your meter as a credit meter.
Utilita specialise in pre-payment meters and tariffs, meaning they might try to get you back onto a pre-payment tariff once you switched.1 -
As above, I advise against Utilitia. My usage would cost an extra £250 with Utilita.

Because it shows how expensive Utilita are - and also check out their feedback on others sites.
