Hi I wonder if somebody can tell me why Hitachi capital plc has done a soft affordability search on my credit report? I have not applied for any credit.
Also Retail money market Ltd t/a ratesetter.com has carried out a soft quotations search. Who are they and why are they searching me? Any ideas?

Thanks zx81, so it’s just a marketing thing?

Nothing to worry about as long as they remain soft searches. It's most likely from a comparison site - you usually give permission when accepting their T&Cs to let them search your file from time to time to provide you with "up-to-date" deals for marketing purposes.

Thank you P.T.S that’s what I was thinking. Don’t know what comparison sites I’ve signed up to, maybe the MSE credit file or clearscore.
