My smart meter display stopped working last week. I cant get a balance at all . The monitor reads connecting to smart meter. The problem is i dont know when to top up and if i top up , how will i know if the money has gone on to my account. I have contacted them 3 times now. They told me to turn it off for 24 hours and leave for 7 days to correct itself. Another advisor said change its position so its nearer. None of these have worked. I wont phone them as its a prime rate number and always end up in a queue. Im getting so frustrated now .

It sounds like you are saying that your IHD has failed, in which case you can go to the meter to see the balance and check top-ups have been received.
Less convenient for sure, but still possible to dit that way as long as you are physically able to get to the meter.
The IHD can be very sensitive to location so they were correct to ask you to move it as close to the meter as you can, just how far away from the meter is it?

You shouldn't have to use a premium rate number: by law, customer service numbers charged at more than basic rate were banned several years ago.  Just use the number on your bill, noting that 03 numbers are charged at exactly the same rate as 01 and 02 numbers.  Don't use any 084/087 numbers that you find on Google, they're just scammers.

Read the actual meters rather then the IHD.
