HELP IM CONFUSED??

Hello

so I’ve recently applied for a mortgage via a broker, I’ve got good credit and have only been in my job for 4 months as I had been out of the country for the last 2 year prior.

so I get my decision in principle and am awaiting the rest of the process before I suddenly get an email from my broker saying “  after placing the application with the lender they have informed me that due to some 3rd party checks they are unwilling to go ahead with your application.

I have also decided not to take your application further due to the aforementioned reasons”.

My broker is now not answering my calls, and I the mortgage company aside that they see me as a “risk” and will not give me any further information.

This feels so weird and I am REALLY CONFUSED. Can any shed any light on what’s going on?

So I’ve just spoken to the lender and my broker. Neither of them will give much information as to the reasoning however the lender said that they declined me due to “ risk appetite”. What does that mean?

It means you are too high a risk and outside the type of person they will lend to.

They don't legally have to say why they decline you.

Maybe they don't like it that's you've only been back in the UK for 4 months, after being outside it for 2 years.

What's showing an all credit files (MSE credit club, credit karma and Clearscore, all are free) so have you done a Hunters search request as that's the only way you will know there is no CIFAS.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.

I would personally get the full versions from equifax, experian and does credit karma now or even get the one from check my file.

The fact that your broker has dropped you like a lead balloon makes me think the lender has found something untoward. It could be on your credit file, the fraud checking systems, internal records or other information. Have you made applications through another broker or directly recently? For anything - credit cards, loans, leases etc? Does the information match up with what was put on the application?

The problem is that lenders will either decline your application and tell us or decline your application and not tell us and the latter is the one that is concerning as a broker. However, I had a case a few years ago where the lender said the customer was not for them and they recommend we drop the customer too. Turns out they just meant because they were unlikely to get a mortgage, not because the customer did anything wrong, so I tend to take what lenders say with a pinch of salt at times now.

    Hello
A few applications were made last year that did not proceed and the broker did make mistakes with information I gave him eg leaving out parts of my name etc. What would you recommend I do now?

Run a SAR to the Hunter Database

Sounds like the Lender has seen something worrying and the Broker has dropped you to avoid association.

Could be multiple applications with differing information.

Thank you for your responses so far.

I have a feeling this could be down to multiple applications and brokers inputting wrong information.

once I get my CIFAS report back and if I do find something on there, can I get the information corrected to remove any possible mark on my name, to prevent this issue arising in the future ? And does anyone know what the process and time frame would be ?
