Is the warranty listed separately on the invoice & how much did it cost?
How did you pay for the car?
The O/p has said "with dealer (NOT 3rd party insurer) warranty included"
    Hence my question.
OP did not make it clear if it was paid for. Some dealers charge...
It would be very unusual for a dealer to put a charge for their own warranty on an invoice, however i take your point that its a possibility.

But even if it was separated out, i'm not sure what difference that makes?

If it was indeed proved to be fraud, and the perpetrators were jailed, how would that help the OP.

By the sound of it they were never going to honour the warranty even if they had carried on going.
  • With thanks to all who have taken time to read/reply.
    To clarify some points raised.
    1. My wife paid cash (with p/x). Yeah, I know. But her money and that's how she is!
    2. Warranty was included as freebie IE all cars get one, so at no additional cost
    3. I recalled that there was something about strike off but it has been a long time since I was a director - thanks motorguy - which is why I thought of fraud.
    4. If it is possibly fraud, it isn't too much trouble to report it and let someone else deal with. May just deter them from doing again...? And...
    5. I'm b****y annoyed because it was deliberate. So i'm prepared to make the time, even with no prospect of getting the warranty honored. As TheRainmaker's motto states 'No one provokes me with impunity'.
Meanwhile, I'll investigate further and update the post.

    Thanks again.

It might be worth seeing if it is possible to sue the company directors personally.  Directors can be held liable if they continue to trade the business while it is insolvent.
But that's one for proper legal advice, rather than relying on some random person on the internet.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

If it was separated out and was paid by card, then there would be a possible chargeback for non receipt of services.
