Scrapped Car Mess Up
Looking for advice please. I arranged for a car to be picked up to be scrapped by a local scrap dealer between 3 and 4, they never showed up. About 4:20 a man I'm going to assume was from the travelling community turned up and offered me money for the car.
Annoyed with the scrapyard for not turning up and having my mind elsewhere as I was tiling my bathroom I agreed to sell it to my new friend. He left and returned with his son and got the car ready to be towed but before I could get the logbook out to sign things they was gone.
What do I tell the DVLA about this, as I've no details to give them.
Cheers

Report it report it to the police as theft?0

If money actually exchanged hands, then it isn't theft.
OP can you confrm if this is the case or not ?
If the agreed sum did exchange hands and its just the logbook etc that is not signed, just fill in the seller section and send it off (not sure if this can be done online)0 -
Make up false details. Very unlikely but if DVLA ask, "sorry, but that's what the buyer wrote". At least it will no longer be in your name.0

False details, somewhere that doesn't exist. What do you think a lot of dodgier scrap men do. You obviously know nothing of the industry.

It will be difficult to prove that some strangers prepped the car for towing in the time that it takes to fetch a form that you already had prepared for the previous buyer, let's hope another unfortunate episode shortly follows.
