Going with a friend who wants to chill out while I do a bit of exploring. We don't want to stay in a busy area but need to be able to hop on a bus or boat to get get into Split.
Stayed at Cavtat outside Dubrovnik last year which was ideal - is there a Split equivalent?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Have a look at Brac Island.  Only 50 minutes by hourly or so ferry from Split ferry port, which is right by the Old Town.  The ferry lands at Supetar, couldn't be more central to the small town.  Plenty to do around the area.

We stayed in Žnjan on the edge of town, it was quiet and the local beach wasn't busy as all. The main beach in Split was packed. Easy to get a bus into town, or it's a nice (long'ish) walk along the coast with loads of rocky beaches on the way.

We visited a place called Omis while in Split, it was about 30mins by regular bus from the centre of Split and seemed lovely.  The beach seemed nice and wasn’t crowded and there were nice cheap restaurants and cafes.  We stayed in Split and only spent an afternoon there, but if I was to return I’d look at staying in Omis as a base.

  • We stayed at a campsite about 5km from Split but with a bus right outside. The site has chalets to rent. It has its own beach, swimming pools , sauna , steam rooms, wellness centre. It is called camping Stobrec
  • Trogir. Slightly outside center / off island is cheaper.   Suggest Svjetlana Apartments in Trogir.  Right next to sea, and bus station, ferries to Split. Fabulous.
